About Me
My name is Jess and I'm a freelance journalist and social media coordinator with experience covering breaking news, in-depth features, reviews and event advertisements for more than 10 websites and across 7 social media platforms.
My words have appeared across The Tab's regional and national pages, in EdFringeReview's summer features and within event and product advertisements for Settle Stories and Fly on the Wall Press.
I love writing about things that make culture turn on its head - whether it's an impressive charitable milestone, a community group making an impact or a shift in cultural mindsets, I'm here to shed light on the things going right in the world.

Job History
I've been involved in digital journalism since 2022, when I joined The Lancaster Tab as a contributor.
In May 2024, I interned at The Tab HQ, where my top article gained 90,000 page views in under five days - the team record for that week.
That same month, I was promoted to Deputy Editor in Lancaster. Less than a year later, I became Editor-in-Chief.
In September 2025, I became News Editor at The Manchester Tab. By January 2026, I was Editor-in-Chief.
Throughout my time at The Tab, I wrote for 8 regional pages - from London to Cardiff, covering news, features and investigations. Between June 2024 and June 2026, my writing gained 223,000 page views, and the changes I made to Manchester's social media pages in the four months I was Editor-in-Chief saw our follower count grow by 7%.
During this time, I also held multiple short-term roles in PR and Social Media. I was Social Media Coordinator at the Yorkshire Festival of Story and Events, PR and Marketing Assistant for Fly on the Wall Press.
Now, I'm a freelance journalist and social media coordinator, and I'm looking for long-term roles within these industries.
